Ever wonder why your bicycle tires go empty over winter?  They were full when you put the bike away in fall but deflated when you pulled it out in spring.  Funny thing is, life is often like that.  We don’t always know when or how we lose “air.”  Difficult conversation and sssssss.  Bad mark on an exam ssssssssss. Tough day at work sssssssss.  You know what I am talking about.

The book of Isaiah was written to people who were losing spiritual “air” but who were not aware of it.  God warned them that they would go into exile for their disobedience and rebellion, “deflated.” But then there would come a day when He would restore them.  In Isaiah 43 God told them that while they were in the wilderness, He would provide streams of water for the thirsty.  He would lead them on a journey that would bring them home.

How about you?  Do you find your energy and life leaking away?  Ask God to show you the leak(s).  Trying harder and working longer only expends more energy.   Invite the Holy Spirit to search your heart and mind, exposing the leaks (Psalm 139:23-24), i.e. worry, fear, debt, sin, career, jobs, etc.    Fix the leak by confessing your sin, turning from bad habits, seek refuge in God’s care and provision (Psalm 91).  Ask God to renew your relationship with Him.  He will provide restoration, refreshing the soul (Psalm 23).  Be restored through your relationship with God, expressing your devotion and love for Him.  Restoration is a journey and may take some time, but the patience that is required is well worth the renewal that will provide as we seek Him.
