Easter - Celebration of Life
March 29, 2016

A woman looked out of her window and saw her German shepherd shaking the life out of her neighbor's rabbit.  Disaster had struck.  Panicking, she rushed out and grabbed the very lifeless rabbit. Bringing the rabbit inside, she gave it a bath, blow dried its fur, combed it until it was smooth, snuck into the neighbor's yard, and propped it up in its cage. An hour later she heard screams from next door. She ran over.  "What's going on?" "Our rabbit! Our rabbit!" her neighbor cried. "He died two weeks ago. We buried him, and now he's back!"

It appears that Mary, Peter and the beloved disciple were no more prepared to see Jesus back (John 20).  Dead things stay dead, that is, until Jesus Resurrection.  When the beloved disciple saw that Jesus and vacated the grave clothes he believed.  When Jesus called Mary’s name, she was delirious with joy because she had seen the Lord.  Jesus arose from the grave just as He said He would.

Those who believe in Jesus are changed, receiving eternal.  While all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23) and while all unbelievers will reap death, the wages of sin (Romans 6:23), all those who believe in Jesus will be saved (Romans 10:9, 10), crossing from death to life (John 5:24).  The benefits are immediate: acquitted of sin, guilt is gone being replaced with the peace of God, gaining access to God’s throne of mercy.  The benefits are for all eternity: eternal life, God’s presence, assurance of salvation, etc.  So what is holding you back from following Jesus?  The benefits of following him eternally surpass the alternative.  He Is Risen!
